Altitude Sickness

Vail is at 8,150 feet, which can cause altitude sickness for those coming from lower elevations. Symptoms include headaches, nausea, dizziness, and shortness of breath. Key points to remember if you think you may experience altitude sickness: Start hydrating a day or two before you arrive. Don’t overexert yourself, especially on your first day. Meals with carbs will help your body adjust. Try and avoid alcohol and caffeine; These can dehydrate you and make symptoms worse. Rest, drink water, and take it slow. Symptoms usually get better with rest. You can also find over-the-counter medications in town for relief.
